More than a hundred economically backward Irular families live in the Nandiambakkam Irular Colony in Tiruvallur District. The Kattupalli Adani Port’s Corporate Social Responsibility team identified that most of the children in this community were severely malnourished. As the first phase of action against the rampant malnourishment, Adani Foundation under the Adani Wilmar’s SuPoshan Project made necessary arrangements to provide Moringa nutrition bars. The first set of the Nutrition bars are being given to 120 acutely malnourished children on a sustained basis for 6 months till they reach good health.
The Moringa bars are enriched with Moringa Leaves, almonds, spirulina, alfalfa, cardamom and dry ginger that ensure adequate carbohydrates, protein, fat, fibre and energy are available to the children. These nourishing ingredients are essential in addressing the malnutrition and giving the children a chance at a healthy life.
This Moringa Nutrition bar distribution was inaugurated today (18th December 2020). Panchayat President Mrs. Kalavathi presided over this event and inaugurated the providing of Nutrition bars to children under the Adani Wilmar’s SuPoshan Project. Child Development Project Officer Mrs. Vanitha Devi and Panchayat Vice President Ms. Kalavathi were also on dais. The vote of thanks was delivered by Community Leader Mr. Venkataratnam Varadarajan who thanked all those on dais and the Adani Foundation for its Community Welfare initiatives.
The ceremony was attended by the general public and many Adani Foundation and Adani Kattupalli Port officials.
