Elon Musk took to Twitter on Wednesday to express his outrage after the microblogging giant sued him for breaching his $44 billion deal to buy the social media platform, asking a Delaware court to order the world’s richest person to complete the merger at the agreed $54.20 per Twitter share.
Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc, tweeted to his 100 million Twitter followers, “Oh the irony lol.”
Elon Musk tweeted a meme mocking the progress of the $44 billion acquisition bid earlier on
Monday before the lawsuit was filed. Elon Musk has shared ‘his reactions’ to the twists and turns in the Twitter takeover saga in the meme. “They said I couldn’t buy Twitter,” the meme reads. They wouldn’t bot information then. They now want to force me to purchase Twitter in court. They must now disclose bot information in court.”
Musk, who turned 51 last month, stated that he cancelled the deal with Twitter because the forum is infested with bots (fake accounts) and the company is doing the bare minimum to address the problem.
When Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal explained how the company detects and combats spam bots earlier this month, Musk responded with a poop emoji.
He also accused the company of denying his request to provide him with the exact number of fake accounts on its platform. Twitter justified not sharing the information with Elon Musk by claiming that it feared Musk would create a competing platform after the acquisition was abandoned.
According to Bloomberg, the lawsuit against him is 62 pages long and includes references to roughly 13 of Elon Musk’s tweets. The case has yet to be assigned to a judge. The case is expected to begin on September 19.
