Homes damaged during cyclone Nivar given tarpaulins by Adani Foundation
The Adani Foundation is carrying out various community welfare projects to improve the basic amenities available to the people in the economically backward villages near the Kattupalli Port in Tiruvallur District.
Adani Foundation has identified huts and shacks that were badly damaged by the Cyclone Nivar in the Sengazhaneermedu of the Voyalur Panchayat. To ensure the dignity of life of these economically downtrodden people, they have initiated the installation of 200 high quality tarpaulin sheets which prevent water seepage.
The distribution and installation of the tarpaulins took place today (15th Dec 2020) at Sengazhaneermedu of the Voyalur Panchayat with the support of volunteers from the local community. Voyalur Panchayat President Mr. VG Gopi inaugurated the event which will ensure that 200 poor families will be immediately benefited by the installation of these tarpaulins. Adani Foundation plans to distribute a total of 500 tarpaulins to other deserving families over the following days.
Panchayat Vice President Mr. Rajesh, Ward Councilors Mrs. Mahalakshmi Prakash and Mr. Gokul were also present. The elected representatives presented the tarpaulins to the beneficiaries and addressed the gathering at the event before the installation commenced. The event was attended by Adani Foundation and Adani Kattupalli Port Officials and the general public.
