Instagram is testing a new feature that converts video posts on the platform into Reels. A Meta spokesman told TechCrunch, “We are testing this feature as part of our efforts to simplify and improve the video experience on Instagram.”

It is unclear what impact it will have on current Instagram videos. On Twitter, social media analyst Matt Navarra posted a screenshot with the caption, “Instagram is now making EVERY video a Reel.” According to media reports, Instagram intends to use the experiment to increase video post engagement. Users can remix the videos and add music to create new Reels. According to a TechCrunch report, anyone can make a remix of a Reel that has been shared publicly.

According to the company’s Q1 2022 earnings report, Reels account for more than 20% of the time people spend on Instagram. Since then, it has placed large bets on Reels. To comply with Apple’s updated App Store Review Guidelines, the social media app has added a new option that allows iOS users to delete or deactivate Instagram accounts within the app. Users previously had to log in via web browser or mobile device to delete or deactivate accounts.
