The government has warned about a fake RBI notification offering 4.59 crore to a beneficiary.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB), via its fact check Twitter handle, stated that the central bank does not provide such payments/funds. It went on to say that the RBI never calls or sends emails requesting personal information.

The government said on Wednesday that a fake notification was issued in the name of the Reserve Bank of India, claiming to offer the beneficiary Rs.4.59 crore.

The Press Information Bureau (PIB), a government agency, stated on Twitter that the central bank does not provide such payments/funds. It went on to say that the RBI never calls or sends emails requesting personal information.

The fake notification was also shared on the PIB’s social media handle. The notification stated that beneficiaries were listed in the most recent schedule for payment of 4.59 crore and requested personal information for that amount to be credited.
